hi y'all! I got a LOT out of playing this game and had a great time, thank you so much to the creator. I'm stuck on 95/96 files, my entry with (1) is 01-LI-3-5. Can anyone provide a hint?

I'm also stuck on.... (ROT13)

Ubj qb lbh npghnyyl thrff sbe gur unatzna? V sbhaq gur qernz svyr fb V guvax V xabj jung gb thrff ohg jura V glcr vg vagb gur frnepu one vg qbrfa'g frrz gb jbex?

If there's any other easter eggs I'm missing out on, I'd love a hint or two! I'm still confused about jul @ punatrq sebz oyhr gb lryybj, fb V guvax V zhfg or zvffvat fbzrguvat vzcbegnag.

Ack I am not very good at this kind of puzzle but I am so curious!!! I need to read more! I wish there is a walkthrough of sorts, maybe a list of scenes or hint on what comes next... Very interesting so far, though!

I...I did it.... 7 hours straight of case cracking.... This was so amazing! Thanks so much for making this awesome game!

how do you even start?!?!

What's this game called?

Read the message in your inbox. There you'll find some file names that you can type into the search bar. By the time you reach the corrupted file name, you should know how to piece together the information to find it. You basically use this method to find the rest of the file names. I recommend using a spreadsheet and notes to keep track of all the information

Just out of curiosity I tried to make some AIs play this game.

Deepseek's 'reason' function found two filenames that weren't in the Brief before offering nothing but failed guesses. The 'reason' button also makes the server timeout over and over again more often than not, so even if I wanted to give it more chances, I couldn't.

ChatGPT doesn't let you use their 'reason' button for very long if you're not paying, so I couldn't try it, but without it, it figured out '04-ST-?????' but couldn't find any filenames on its own.

Gemini doesn't have a 'reason' button, it has a 'research' but I think that makes it search the web, and that's cheating, obviously. Without it, it couldn't even figure out '04-ST-?????'.

This got boring, so I didn't bother trying Copilot, although it has a "Think Deeper" option which might help. There's also Perplexity. I got a year of their 'Pro' subscription for free some time ago, can't remember how. Maybe I'll try that later.

In conclusion, I don't think we're being replaced by AI any time soon.

I'm curious, because I don't think it's explained in-game

Absolutely love this game. Scratches the same itch as Obra Dinn and No Case Should Remain Unsolved. Been also reading through a good number of comments, and I have a theory, that I haven't seen anywhere else (tbf. I didn't read all the comments). Massive Spoilers:

I liked the way I had to scan the text deeper and deeper to find the next part. I liked the characters. I  liked trying to find the characters like they hid from me, i was like where are you you little shit?

The story is great. I like the storylines of each person. it's so fun.

the <details><summary>spoiler</summary> hangman</details> bit scared the hell out of me cuz i failed it.

I'm not done yet. I just found the first 21. I've been at it for 4 days now without a walkthrough.

I also gotta compliment the UI, it's not overwhelming amount of text which I am thankful.

I just finished this and I am blown away! Someone mentioned this game on Bluesky and it became my obsession for the next 24h. Absolutely amazing!

Stuck currently with exactly 1 Act two scene, but it's been quite fun so far.  I'm a little confused by the programme found on the body, though-- I would've expected that to be a clue to 00-programme, and when it wasn't I would've expected an @ message saying that the programme wasn't recovered or something.  I am hoping this is clarified later.

I am not sure how much brute-force guessing I ought to use.  Currently I have used very little, but I am running out of options.  For example, I know I am missing a living room scene before the one where John comes in. However, removing him and the three that arrive with him isn't giving me the appropriate scene. I have some guesses-- iit seems like Tony and Vic haven't met yet before then, for example, and maybe Martha was looking for Eddie elsewhere and just joined the group-- so I could probably iterate all combinations for the appropriate timeslots, but I don't know if that's cheating.

this was such a blast to play, thank you!! i had a lot of fun. Truly a great time!!

does anyone know how to get to file 08?? I cant think of what it'd be

can someone help with the name of the corrupted file? I can't figure it out

the names go by the code 00-AA-......

the 00 is replaced by the file number (01, 02, 03, etc)

the AA says where the scene is set (ST for study, EN for entrance)

the ..... is replaced by the people in the scene

example: scene three, which is in the living room and has people 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, so it is "03-LI-1-4-5-6-7-8"

in the scene before 04, "03-LI-1-4-5-6-7-8-9", person 5 (martha galley) asks to meet person 1 (john hobbes) and 8 (Damian) in the study. this makes the code "04-ST-1-5-8"

thank you so much!!! i was really confused lol

this is all just full on spoiler you should rot13 it or at least put a warning

I haven't come close to finishing this game yet, but I need to say this: this is incredible. So, so incredible!

I basically never post my own comments on here, but I'm in desperate need of help since I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm missing. TL;DR: I'm at the very end of the game, but I still have a (1) listed next to a file name and can't find the file I'm missing.

I got almost all the way through the game on my own, and by reading some of the other comments here I got the dream file and the K file I missed, but I haven't really unlocked any sort of concrete end screen or final note or anything, and there's still a (1) next to 19-AT-1-2. I checked through my unlocked files so many times, but from what I can tell, I'm not missing anything, since everyone alive is accounted for during every timeslot each time I check. I feel like it's something really silly that I'm missing, but I'm driving myself nuts trying to figure out what it is. I would appreciate it so much if anyone has any suggestions/ideas!!

if everyone alive is accounted, maybe someone dead was alive at some point.

dont know if this is what u are missing, hope it helps

also is easy to check the timelines using "find" and the identificator of the person

Did you check the 00 file that @ left? Maybe this is the missing file

what are you guys using to scramble your comments :sob:

i actually made this account just to comment because this game is so insanely good. The way the mechanics of the game and the narrative and the aesthetic all unfold and develop concurrently is perfectly executed. It's so good how the game evolves from just figuring out how to use the system, to figuring out who's who and what the house is like, to finally actually figuring out why everything is happening. I also love that the UI still has nice quality of life additions even though it's uncompromisingly stark. It made the game feel like a truly believable operating system that some weird investigator might actually use instead of being intentionally obtuse, but also still controlled the drip feed of clues and story beats at the exact right rate to keep serving me aha moments both mechanically and narratively. Anyone who has any interest whatsoever in detective games at all should play this, and especially anyone interested in knowledge gated esoteric/ergodic narrative.

There was only one confusing part of the puzzle to me when I finished up the game that maybe someone could explain. Jung'f fhccbfrq gb or gur fzbxvat tha yrnqvat lbh gb 00-qernz? about 10-MA-5-6 , do you have the entire timeline of everybody? seems like u are missing one scene

(1 edit)

there is a timeslot 26.
Also here are some things you can find in the 10-MA-5-6 file (but you probably already found out:

-where Eddie was in scene 09 (he wasn't alone)

-where Eddie was in scene 08 (wasn't alone)

-one of the people who wasn't there during dinner (scene 07)

-who was martha with and where during scene 08

-where martha goes in scene 11 and who she meets

-where Eddie goes to on scene 11 (wasn't alone)

I hope it helps.

Not the person you replied to, but I think I'm in their exact position. I have a reference for 10-ma-5-6 but I have every single scene you've mentioned in your comment. I'm well and truly stumped on what else it could be referencing. I also have 1 scene at 26 with person 1.

Clue below if you're still looking.  Indirect spoiler.

There's one that I didn't get until after the one outside the mansion that you mentioned, so I'm guessing it might be the one you're still looking for. Technically you could find this scene very early depending on how early you figure out all the mechanics of the curse.

I know that's extremely subtle, so I also have one more clue below.

.

.

.

.

.

Each person's final scene occurs in a time slot that includes a thunderclap. Do you have every thunderclap paired with someone?

And one last one, a bit more obvious below if you need it (but still not the direct answer).

.

.

.

.

.

Characters were identified by numbers to keep track of who was talking before we knew their names. Was there anyone who we never heard speak? What would their number be?

Hope these were helpful enough without being too obvious.

stumbled on Type Help after searching for games like Outer Wilds- I was hooked. I've also got my partner hooked. Satisfying to solve, and we've had a lot of fun theory crafting!!! We've done our job :)
